I’m Courtney, the sassy, tell-it-like-it-is working mom behind Shiraz In My Sippy Cup. This blog sprang to life as most blogs do: I wanted a way to document my daughter’s life – the good, the bad and the poopy.
Okay, maybe not the poop, but it was important to me to find a way to put into writing all of the ups and downs that go hand in hand with parenting, especially being a mom and a working mom who works full time outside of the home. I expected to do a little bit of dabbling here and there, nothing much; just enough for me to have a creative outlet and possibly meet other moms online who share the same struggles, philosophies and joys in parenting as I do.
Well, 50,000+ readers a month later, along with being published on The Huffington Post, Scary Mommy, Red Tricycle, and BlogHer, two blog awards and several dear friends to boot, I’ve far exceeded my intended goals of simple documentation, and gained so much more in the process.
I found you.
If you’re reading Shiraz In My Sippy Cup it’s because you find honest talk about the trials, joys and tribulations of parenting refreshing because let’s face it – parenting isn’t always a walk in the park. Sometimes it’s more like being the keeper at the zoo; smelly, crazy and downright far from perfect or clean. Shiraz In My Sippy Cup is a place where you can come, no matter what stage of parenting you’re in, let your hair down and simply be who you are without feeling the need to be anything more.
I currently live in Pennsylvania but my heart and soul will always belong to my native state of Tennessee {GO VOLS!}. By day, I work in marketing and communications and by night, I transform into Wonder Woman, or better known to my daughter as “mommy.” I’m family oriented and big on manners, humility and traditions. When I’m not dealing with my tenacious but insanely adorable eight year old, you can find me enjoying a glass or two of my favorite wine, Shiraz, while cheering on my Tennessee Vols, writing, reading a great book or throwing down in the kitchen.

Am I still allowed to say 'good job with the spiffy-ing' if I didn't see it pre-spiffy? I think it is safe to say ... 'yay Star Wars'! Just saw Chewbacca this weekend at Disney, he's pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yeah, M loves Chewie. I'm pretty sure he will be her first love, LOL.
DeleteHey fellow KD! I shall follow your little family as well! :) Adorable stuff going on here! AOT
ReplyDeleteThank you!! AOT fellow sister! ;-)
DeleteSo I've been following along for a while but never clicked on your "about me" page. Silly me! Loved learning more about you and love your blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elizabeth! I hope to learn more about you as well. Thanks for stopping by!!
DeleteSo baby Daddy.. are you and Michael not married? Not that it really matters, just curious. I'm fairly certain I thought you two were so if not, there I go again with my ASSumptions.

ReplyDeleteI love this page! Though not a Vols fan, I'm also not a Bama, Georgia, or Florida fan, so I think we can still be friends! I'll bring the pinot (noir, of course) for me and some shiraz for you :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Suzanna! Please, do! ;-) I look forward to getting to know you and reading your blog! XO
DeleteHi Courtney!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from the Blog Life group. Your little girl is adorable. I too am an account manager at a marketing firm. My Grandparents live in Tennessee and it’s one of my favorite places in the world. We grew up getting Vol stuff from them. And anytime we visited that was pretty much all Walmart carried, so Vol merch was our souvenirs. I’m trying to get my little family up there. I want them to see the Smoky Mountains and take them to Dollywood.
Love your about me page! Looking forward to following along!
Crystal
Hi Crystal! Thanks so much for stopping by! The Smoky Mountains are GORGEOUS. I miss being in Tennessee but we're enjoying where we are now. Thanks for checking us out and don't be a stranger!
DeleteFirst of all you had me at your blog title! Haha... I love it. Secondly, loved your About Me Page... you and I both are southern marketing managers who love their college teams (LSU) and a {large} glass of wine! Can't wait to get to follow along!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Amanda! I'm so glad you stopped by. I look forward to getting to know you, too! Enjoy the rest of your week.
DeleteHi! Stopping from the Blog Life group! I love, love, love The Great Gatsby, too!
ReplyDelete--Amy
Thanks for stopping by, Amy! Your site is too, too cute. I look forward to getting to know you!
DeleteLove the fact that we both cheer on the Vols and do it with wine [more of a Merlot girl myself]! Were also pretty close too-used to a Nashville girl and my husband transplanted me to Chattanooga. Ill also stick a monogram on anything I can get my hands on... drives my husband crazy. Look forward to following you!!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! Another Vol fan!!! I'm probably way more excited about that than need be, haha! Looking forward to following you. Your site is adorable!
DeleteLol love the Journey reference that made me giggle. You have maybe said this before and I have missed it but how did you start calling her chickie? I think it might just be one of the sweetest nicknames ever!
ReplyDeleteWell, it's kind of a long story but let me try to boil it down. When Maddy was a newborn, she would lay with her legs pulled up close to her body but she would lay out her knees so she looked liked one of those tiny little roasted chickens that you see in the grocery store, haha. Whenever Michael would pick her up, he would say, "Hey there, little chicken" or "Ok, chicken, let's see what's in your diaper" and it just kind of stuck. Eventually, it morphed into Chickie. We love it but I'm sure she will hate it when she is older, haha. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteDid you watch the World Series when Steve perry kept awkwardly singing to his own songs like a drunk aunt at a wedding? I mean.
ReplyDeleteYou know I love you. And anything Star Wars.
Hahahaha yes! Michael and I laughed about that for a while. Thank you, my dear. You know we love ya too!
DeleteYour little girl is adorable! Can't wait to read more of your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! She is a mess, haha! Looking forward to getting to know you too!
DeleteI love your about me page! Sometimes we definitely need a glass or two to get through the crazy, but it is still so fun to get to be there for, and enjoy! I cant wait to follow along and learn more about you and your adorable family!

ReplyDeleteI just love your humor. I wish I could have a glass of wine right now!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Becky! Major fail to pregnancy, haha. I craved it so much more when I was pregnant too but it's OK. In the end, it's totally worth the sacrifice. ;-) Have a fab week!
